Courier Service for American Citizen Services

Beginning in late March 2007, the American Citizen Services (ACS) Section will begin a courier service to deliver passports and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA).  Previously, after someone was approved for a passport or CRBA, the applicant needed to return to the Consular Section several days later to pick up the passport or CRBA.  Unfortunately, at times this leads to people needing to make additional trips back to the Consular Section if the passport or CRBA was not available at the originally scheduled time.  As a way to eliminate this hassle, the ACS section will begin a courier service where your documents will be delivered to your doorstep instead of you having to return to the Consular Section.   The process is simple - after being told your passport or CRBA application has been approved the officer will give you a ticket that you take to the Courier service located on the Consular Section grounds.  There you pay either US$12 or US$16 (or the peso equivalent) depending upon where you live.  Your documents will be delivered in approximately two to three weeks.  All forms for the courier service will be provided to you at the Consular Section, just please remember to bring at least US$16 to pay for the service at the time of your appointment.  Please note once we institute the courier service it will be the only method to receive your passport or CRBA, except in extreme emergency circumstances.

Also, the ACS Section would like to take this opportunity to remind the public of our new hours:  Passport services are now offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.  Consular Report of Birth Abroad services are now on Tuesdays and Fridays.  Thank you for your cooperation.
