Ask the Consul
How Do I Renew My Visa? What is a Visa Renewal?
To
facilitate visa applications for frequent travelers, the Consular Section sets
aside special appointments for certain applicants who are renewing multiple year
visas. To qualify for these special appointments, you must:
-
Already have a multiple entry
visa with a validity period of at least five years;
-
Have a visa that is current
or expired less than one year ago;
-
Apply for the same type or
category of visa (e.g. B-1/B-2 business/tourism visa); and
-
Be a resident in the
Dominican Republic (foreign residents must present their resident cards at
the time of the interview).
Bring All Your Passports to
the Interview
If you are applying for a visa
renewal, please ensure that you bring all of the passports that cover the entire
period of time since you received your visa. In many cases, this means
presenting three or more passports at the time of the interview. For example,
an applicant with a new black passport, an expired blue passport, and an expired
red passport that contains the visa would be required to bring three passports
(black, blue, and red) to the interview. Applicants who have passports of dual
nationalities must also provide the passports from both countries. It is
important for you to bring all your passports to the interview so that the
Consular Officer can review your travel pattern for the entire period that you
had the visa. Failure to present all your passports at the time of the
interview may cause your case to be delayed or denied. |
