Application Fees for Non-Immigrant Visas to Increase On January 1, 2008

Effective January 1, 2008, the application fee for a U.S. nonimmigrant visa (a category which includes tourist visas) will increase from US$ 100 to US$ 131 on a worldwide basis, including in the Dominican Republic.  This increase allows the State Department to recover the costs of security and other enhancements to the non-immigrant visa application process.

Those applicants who paid the prior US$ 100 application fee before January 1, 2008 will require no further payment if their interview is scheduled on or before January 31, 2008.

Applicants who paid the prior US$ 100 application fee and appear for visa interviews after January 31, 2008 must pay the difference -- US$31 -- at any Banco Popular branch before they will be interviewed.  Please bring all your receipts to your interview.

Any payments made after January 1, 2008, regardless of the interview date, must be for the full US$ 131 fee.
