U.S. Embassy Prohibits Employees from Visiting “Tonic” Discotheque
after Incident of Racial Discrimination
Santo Domingo – The Embassy of the
United States of America has prohibited all American employees who work
officially with the U.S. Mission in the Dominican Republic from
patronizing the discotheque “Tonic” in the capital because this past
January 12 the establishment denied entry to African-Americans who work
at the Embassy. The facts show that racial discrimination was the cause
for denying these employees admission.
The U.S. Embassy fully recognizes that
discrimination exists all over the world, including the United States.
Nevertheless, it is important to stand up to discrimination wherever it
is found. |
